WORKSHOPS:
We have several years’ experience of running fun,
interactive workshops with school, college and university students in the
UK and overseas. For example, in 2003, we were invited to do a workshop
for teaching professionals by the British council in Athens. It is often
the case that workshops are a good way of complementing the performances
for students, many of whom are seeing a piece of theatre for the first
time. Working with the actors, the students get to boss us about. Nobody
is put on the spot or made to ‘act’. Each student can get as
involved as they like. The only people who end up looking silly are us,
and the sillier the better. Techniques used include Forum Theatre, Impro,
Status, Silence, Body Language, the Comic double act and Use of Space.
All these themes help to reveal how we put a piece of theatre together
and how the audience enjoy it.
